Message From the President & CEO
GMCVB Certified Autism Center

Hello everyone,

Excuse me for saying that I’m hoping we all embrace being “blue” not just today or this month, but every day. The color blue, associated with calmness and acceptance, is the primary color designated for autism, and on April 2, a number of our industry partners illuminated their respective structures in blue light to draw awareness to autism acceptance.

The Intercontinental Hotel, Miami Children’s Museum and other organizations turned several South Florida buildings blue to share the importance of the autism acceptance message and the Miami Marlins hosted a game this week in honor of World Autism Awareness Day and Autism Acceptance Month.

We couldn’t ask for better timing with our organization’s recent designation as a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC). The GMCVB was granted this designation by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). The CAC designation is awarded to organizations that have completed autism training to better understand, welcome and provide accessibility to autistic and sensory-sensitive visitors and their families.  In the coming weeks and months we will be coordinating certification with a number of our key venues.  More on that soon...
