Welcome to the GMCVB Multicultural Tourism and Development e-newsletter! Join us for the 9th Annual Sankofa Jazz Festival, presented by the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center (AHCAC), on April 6. This yearly event celebrates the rich diversity of arts rooted in the African diaspora, showcasing a variety of local and emerging talents who embody the essence of African heritage, especially in the realm of jazz. This outdoor gathering, suitable for all ages, features the acclaimed Grammy-winning drummer and producer, Terri Lyne Carrington, along with her new band Social Science. Join us on April 6 for the inaugural Asian-American Community Tour hosted by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), where we'll embark on a journey through the diverse cultures of Asia right here in Miami! Accompanied by local community leaders from the Miami-Dade County Asian-American Advisory Board, this guided tour offers insights into the rich heritage and attractions of these vibrant cultures. Check out SCORE Miami's webinars and workshops being offered in April.  These low or no-cost local workshops are presented on relevant small business topics by small business experts, online and in-person. You may also benefit by getting free business advice from experienced mentors – partnerships focused on making you more successful in starting and/or growing your small business.

We are calling on your support to make this year's H.O.T. Challenge the most successful yet! We kindly ask for your contribution to the annual auction and for your participation in forming a foursome to compete in the upcoming tournament. The H.O.T. Challenge aims to generate funds to benefit the Black Hospitality Initiative (BHI) in awarding scholarships to outstanding young African American students dedicated to serving Greater Miami & Miami Beach for two years post-graduation. Our overall goal is to take full advantage of the distinctive diversity of our destination while acknowledging and honoring the significant economic influence these exceptional students bring to the local Visitor Industry, thereby benefiting our entire community. Join us at the IntercContinental Miami on April 25-27 for the National Association of Black County Officials (NABCO) Leadership Summit and Retreat. NABCO is one of the most influential caucuses fighting on behalf of African-Americn county officials. Featured guest speakers will touch topics such as representation and leadership in local government, addressing racial disparities in county services and policies, promoting economic and social equity, and advocating for the needs of Black communities within counties. Join us  at the the 2024 Miami-Dade County Public School MEGA National Academy Foundation (NAF) Student Industry Conference, which will bring together 1,800 NAF students who are preparing for college and career in multiple different career paths.  NAF is a national network of education, business, and community leaders who work together to ensure high school students are college, career, and future ready. The event comprises keynote speeches, industry presentations, breakout sessions, and internship interviews.
