American Airlines Deepens Commitment to Greater Miami
 
Miami’s Hometown Airline, American Airlines, deepens their commitment to the community with new and increased service into Miami International Airport. Beginning in June, American Airlines will introduce new destinations with nonstop service to Miami from Paramaribo, Suriname and will become the first U.S. airline to add a new direct flight to Miami from Tel Aviv, Israel. Miami-Dade County Commissioner Hardemon Champions for Anti-gun Violence & Prosperity Initiatives 
 
Miami-Dade County District 3 Commissioner, Keon Hardemon, sponsored a resolution establishing the Anti-gun Violence and Prosperity Initiatives Trust Fund with an endowment totaling nearly $90 million over a 19-year term. The fund will divide 30% of capital equally among the 13 Commission Districts to prevent gun violence and promote economic prosperity across Miami-Dade County.

Miami Beach Family Cooking Classes
 
The Miami Beach Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with Common Threads, is offering family cooking classes on select Sundays through May at the Scott Rakow Youth Center. GableStage Names Producing Artistic Director
 
GableStage at the historic Biltmore Hotel has announced Bari Newport as the producing artistic director, succeeding Joe Adler, who passed away last year after 20 seasons leading the organization.  Newport will continue the traditions of quality theatrical productions that encompass themes and ideas relevant to the multicultural community of Greater Miami. Communications Team Assists Fodor's Travel Guidebook
 
The Communications Team will be assisting, Jessica Poitevien, a locally based journalist doing research on a Greater Miami to Key West road trip itinerary for Fodor's Travel Guidebook  (print edition). While in the destination the journalist will experience our National Parks as well as our unique neighborhoods.
 
 
 
 
Convention Sales Attends Incentive Live
 
The Convention Sales Team will be attending Incentive Live 2021, Global Meetings Industry Day Edition, on April 7-9 in Tucson, AZ. This in-person event will bring together leading incentive program buyers from Altour, Maritz Global Events, Vista Meetings & Incentives along with 20+ other meetings and incentive companies. The Team will promote Greater Miami during one-on-one appointments and various networking events.
 
 
 
 
Communications Team Assists TravelAwaits
 
The Communications Team will be assisting Fred Mays, visiting Greater Miami April 7-9. The journalist will be researching Greater Miami for various articles to be included in TravelAwaits. He will explore our unique neighborhoods including Little Havana and Haulover Beach.  The articles are scheduled to run in spring 2021. (UMV: 2,877,775).
