City of Miami Beach Introduces Black Affairs Advisory Committee
 
The City of Miami Beach has created a new committee to focus on Black community issues. The Miami Beach Black Affairs Advisory Committee (BAAC) led by Chair Glendon Hall and Vice Chair Gregory Branch, will advise the mayor and Miami Beach City Commission on issues relating to the Black community, serve as a resource in the city’s decision-making process and explore ways to provide better cultural, recreational, and business opportunities for the vital African American/Black tourist market for Miami Beach. HistoryMiami will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the fight between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier in Miami with a new photo exhibit showcasing the ‘Fight of the Century!’ HistoryMiami’s acquisition of these prints was generously supported by the Knight Foundation. Miami Dolphins Surpass $1 Million Goal to Support Minority-Owned Restaurants
 
The Miami Dolphins have surpassed their $1 million goal to directly impact local minority-owned restaurants through the food relief program.  The program began with the intent to support minority-owned businesses by combating food insecurity, provide consistent resources and keep minority-owned restaurant doors open during the pandemic. Miami Eats Campaign Wins Accolades
 
The GMCVB’s ‘Miami Eats’ campaign won two Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) Adrian Awards, beating out more than 600 submissions.  The campaign was awarded Silver in the ‘Recovery Strategies’ and Bronze in the ‘Integrated Marketing Campaign’ categories. The 2020 HSMAI Adrian Awards, held virtually on March 23, focuses on Best Practices, Innovation and Community for work done in response to the coronavirus crisis.   
 
 
 
 
Travel Industry Sales and the Mandarin Oriental Miami Host Lux Fam
 
The Travel Industry Sales Team in partnership with Mandarin Oriental, Miami will host an in-person FAM Group comprised of luxury travel sellers on March 2-4.  During their visit, the travel advisors will complete site visits of luxury hotels and have an opportunity to observe the COVID-19 health and cleanliness protocols.
 
 
 
 
Travel Industry Sales Provides Virtual Training To OASIS Travel Network 
 
Travel Industry Sales Director, Debra Lee, will provide a destination overview and update to 75 OASIS Travel Network advisors on March 5.  The Florida-based travel network is one of the fastest growing host travel agencies in the country as they provide ASTA membership for their advisor members and belong to the Signature Travel consortium.
