Miami Celebrates Black History Month |
|
The Miami-Dade Black Affairs Advisory Board (BAAB) along with various community based organizations, have scheduled a number of events that pay homage to the African American diaspora, as well as this year’s national theme established by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH): “Black Migrations,” which focuses on the movement of people of African descent to new destinations and subsequently new social realities. GMCVB's Black History Month Cultural Conversation |
|
Join the Multicultural Tourism & Development Department on Friday, February 26th for a virtual conversation highlighting Art, Film and Culture with Founder & CEO of the American Black Film Festival, Jeff Friday and actor, educator, and activist, Lamman Rucker. This cultural conversation includes a combination of interesting topics and inspiration for the creative to the business mind. During the first half of this virtual program Jeff Friday will give updates on the American Black Film Festival’s upcoming 25th year event happening on Miami Beach. During the second half of the program an inspiring interview with actor Lamman Rucker will take place regarding art, entertainment, film and more. |

Reset and Recharge Through GMCVB’s Miami Health & Wellness Months |
|
With Miamians welcoming 2021 with open arms, those hoping to hit the reset button can look no further than the Greater Convention & Visitors Bureau’s (GMCVB’s) Miami Health & Wellness Months. This year, the two-month-long program invites participants to nourish their minds, bodies and souls via health-centric promotions, discounts, special offerings, and hotel stays from February 1 through March 31. GMCVB Coffee & Conversation: A Renewed Look at Black History in Miami |
|
On Wednesday, February 17th, join the Multicultural Tourism & Development Department and the Black Archives History & Research Foundation of South FL, Inc., as we celebrate Black History Month through an interactive virtual discussion focused on the rich history of the Black community in Miami. Moderated by Tim Barber, historian and Executive Director of the Black Archives at the Historic Lyric Theater, learn of the current activations in the neighborhoods and how we can elevate the visibility of the entities that continue to share these stories. 2021 Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program |
|
Small business owners in Districts 2 and 4 can now apply for up to $5,000 in grants from the annual Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program. The Grant Program was created to provide financial and technical assistance to qualified small businesses that are approved for funding. |

REEF Kicks Off $1M Program to Help Local Miami Restaurants |
|
REEF Technology and its subsidiary REEF Neighborhood Kitchens recently announced that applications for its NBRHD Restaurant Development Program are open. The $1 million program provides a $10,000 marketing campaign and other services through the platform for REEF’s Neighborhood Kitchens, a national delivery-only network of 100+ neighborhood kitchens around the U.S. |

Gifted and Black: Miami's Art Scene 2021 and Beyond |
|
Miami Museum of Contemporary Art of the African Diaspora, Miami MoCAAD will present a culturally engaging virtual #Creative Conversation entitled, Gifted and Black: Miami's Art Scene 2021 and Beyond, Thursday, February 25 at 7 pm. Some of Miami's top black artists and creatives will share thoughts and experiences about navigating Miami’s landscape and perspectives on the future. |

Lyric Live All Star Tribute to Betty Wright, “Miami’s Queen of Soul” |

The Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater invites you to the Lyric Live Season 7 opener on Friday, February 5th at 7:30pm both virtual and in person. Kicking off the season with an All-Star Show as a musical salute to the late Betty Wright, Miami’s Queen of Soul, the show will be hosted by comedian Chello Davis with live music by Jody Hill & Deep Fried Funk Band, DJ H2, and Showtyme Junkanoo. |
