Frontier Announces New Routes to Miami International Airport
 
Low-fare carrier Frontier Airlines announced two new nonstop routes to Miami International Airport (MIA) from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands - plus the resumption of flights from Las Vegas beginning in March 2021. Twice-weekly Punta Cana (PUJ) and St. Thomas (STT) service will begin on March 8 and March 7, respectively, and daily Las Vegas (LAS) service will also resume on March 7. Miami City Ballet Presents 'To Miami With Love' Pop-Up Series for 2021 Spring Season
 
Miami City Ballet (MCB) presents its 2021 Spring Season. Dedicated as a love letter to the community, the 35th anniversary season offers a series of seven pop-up performances running January 30 through February 21, celebrating the vibrant neighborhoods and iconic destinations that put the magic into this global City we call home. The ephemeral 'To Miami, With Love' pop-ups are choreographed and performed by MCB company dancers and each work is site specific, inspired by the surrounding environment and the unique cultural tapestry of the location. Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami Relaunches 'Jazz at MOCA'
 
Starting on January 29, the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA) will relaunch its free 'Jazz at MOCA' series. Since the onset of COVID-19, MOCA suspended the Jazz at MOCA concert series due to health protocols. With the goal of ensuring the continuity of Jazz at MOCA, the museum will launch the program virtually on the last Friday of every month, starting at 8:00 p.m. Click here for more information.
 
 
 
 
City of Miami Beach and South Florida Center for Percussive Arts Present ReThink Miami Beach
 
Come ReThink the way our communities use our spaces. On January 24 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Lummus Park,  Ocean Drive and 12 Street will be activated with art, music, and wellness activities. The event is free and open to the public. Activities include family yoga, local live DJ's, live mural artists, drum demos and fun for the whole family. GMCVB President & CEO Featured Panelist at Southeast Florida Tourism Summit
 
GMCVB President & CEO William D. Talbert, III, CDME will be a featured guest speaker at the Southeast Florida Tourism Summit along with his counterparts Stacy Ritter, CDME, from the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau and Jorge Pesquera from Discover The Palm Beaches.  The three will address current issues affecting the industry at the local and state levels.  The panel discussion will be moderated by Heiko Dobrikow, Executive Vice President of the Las Olas Company and General Manager of the Riverside Hotel.  Click here for more information.
 
 
 
 
Travel + Leisure Features Art of Black Miami
 
Travel + Leisure recently published an article about the GMCVB’s Art of Black Miami initiative, highlighting several of our multicultural neighborhoods, local black-owned businesses and locales in which Art of Black Miami exhibits were on display. The article included an interview with the GMCVB’s Petra Brennan and numerous GMCVB partners. Art of Black Miami is a marketing platform and destination driver that showcases the diversity of the visual arts locally, nationally and internationally, celebrating the black diaspora. GMCVB Travel Industry Sales, American Airlines and Marriott Miami Dadeland to Co-host Travel Advisor FAM
 
In partnership with American Airlines and the Marriott Miami Dadeland, the GMCVB Travel Industry Sales Team will host a group of Haitian-based travel advisors for a Greater Miami FAM on January 28-29.  During their brief visit, the travel advisors will visit a few area hotels as well as complete a tour at Miami International Airport in order to observe the COVID-19 health and cleanliness protocols.
 
 
 
 
Small Business Training Available This Spring
 
The Miami Bayside Foundation’s Small Business Training Program is accepting applications for its Spring semester.  The program is supported by the GMCVB’s Tourism Business Enhancement Initiative with the mission to advocate, support economic sustainability and access of multicultural communities and heritage related businesses within Greater Miami as part of the Multicultural Tourism & Development Department. At the end of the training, businesses can participate in a business pitch presentation to lenders for funding opportunities. CW’s 'Traveling with Denella' Features Miami’s Multicultural Communities
 
The GMCVB’s Multicultural Tourism & Development Department partnered with the CW TV of South Florida for an episode of 'Traveling with Denella' featuring the Arts, Culture & Heritage of Miami's  diverse communities. The segment highlights multicultural gems such as Historic Overtown, Little Haiti, Little Havana plus interviews with local community influencers.
