Marcus returns to his roots in Calle Ocho of Little Havana
 
CNBC’s latest primetime series “Streets of Dreams with Marcus Lemonis” shines a light on the people behind our very own Calle Ocho in episode 3 on January 12th at 10 PM EST.  Marcus returns to his roots in Calle Ocho to understand how the neighborhood where he had his first job went from a small community of hardworking Cuban immigrants to being part of Miami’s $18 billion tourism industry. Art of Black Miami Virtual Conversation: Building Unity & Creative Ecosystems
 
Join us Friday, January 22, 2021 at 6pm for another virtual creative conversation as we explore creating artworks that build on a distinctive combination of culture, commerce, and design. Miami's ascendance as a global tourism destination and a cultural landscape offers a unique canvas for artistic expression which continues to influence our neighborhoods and communities.  The virtual event will include a special performance by classical violinist, Marcia Anderson. 5000 Role Models of Excellence Presents the 28th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Breakfast
 
Since U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson founded the program in 1993 the organization has paired about 10,000 at-risk students with mentors to steer them away from crime and violence.  This year the breakfast will be held virtually on Monday, January 18th at 9:00 a.m. while honoring the life and teachings of the Civil Rights leader.  Speakers include US Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and many others.  Tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite, click below for direct link.

The Hampton House a historic Green Book hotel in Brownsville, along with Amazon Studios hosted a VIP private screening of the directorial debut of Regina King's film, One Night In Miami that depicts the magical night in Miami in 1964 that Muhammad Ali celebrated his heavyweight championship victory with his close friends Sam Cooke, Malcolm X and Jim Brown.
