Miami-Dade made history when Daniella Levine Cava was sworn in as mayor at a ceremony at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County. The Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners also held an installation ceremony where following their election victories, Oliver G. Gilbert, III, Keon Hardemon, René Garcia, Raquel A. Regalado and Kionee L. McGhee were sworn in as new members of the Miami-Dade County Commission along with incumbent reelected members Joe Martinez and Eileen Higgins. We look forward to working with each of them on restoring Greater Miami's #1 economic engine - tourism and hospitality! |

New Miami Beach Tourism and Culture Director Appointed |
|
The Miami Beach Commission recently appoint Lissette García Arrogante as the city’s new Tourism and Culture Director. Arrogante has broad experience in the arts including public museums, private galleries, corporate art, community foundations and festival planning. She holds a Master of Public Administration from Baruch College, CUNY Marxe School of Public and International Affairs, and a Bachelor of Art from Florida International University in Art History with specialization in Contemporary Art. She is thrilled to be a part of the city's mission to support the culture, tourism, and hospitality community. |

Miami Beach Convention Center and Centerplate Celebrate Milestone |
|
The Centerplate team at the Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC) has prepared more than one million meals for Miami-Dade senior citizens home-bound since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Centerplate partnered with DeliverLean to prepare and deliver meals to thousands of at-risk senior citizens daily, providing more than 380 tons of healthy, nutritious food. Centerplate staff work diligently in planning and preparing these meals to then be delivered door-to-door by DeliverLean. Click here for more information. |

Museum of Graffiti Celebrates One Year Anniversary |
|
To celebrate their one-year anniversary, the Museum of Graffiti is debuting two vibrant solo shows during Art Week, November 30 through December 6. Along with a book signing and outdoor screening of Why The Spray, a documentary about 5 Miami graffiti artists, there will be a robust schedule of events including the debut of new works from Miami icon Ahol Sniffs Glue (David Anasagasti), and New York City graffiti pioneer, LA2 (Angel Ortiz). Miami Dolphins Foundation Food Relief Program to Distribute Thousands of Meals |
|
The Miami Dolphins Foundation Food Relief Program is partnering with local organizations to distribute thousands of meals during Thanksgiving week. November 23-25 select residents will receive boxed meals consisting of a turkey, fresh produce and sides. This initiative is part of the Miami Dolphins winning the NFL Huddle for 100 club competition, a league wide effort to encourage volunteerism and meaningful contributions throughout the country. Miami Beach Seeks to Expand High Quality Office Space |
|
Miami Beach recently issued a request from commercial real estate developers to build Class A office space with the intent of converting several open-air parking lots along the Lincoln Road corridor to mixed-use office space with on-site parking garages. The city is seeking to attract national and global businesses seeking a highly coveted work environment capitalizing on low tax rate, abundant amenities, top-rated schools and talent. Miami Beach Announces Partnership with Ocean Conservancy |
|
Miami Beach recently announced a Shores Forward Partnership with Ocean Conservancy which aims to support local environmental sustainability efforts. The partnership is intended to protect and preserve local waterways and beaches. The city hopes to collaborate with Ocean Conservancy on various city projects involving green infrastructure, living shorelines, bioretention cells, blue and green roofs as well as natural and artificial reefs. City of Miami Welcomes New Commissioner for District 5 |
|
Jeffrey Watson, a former aide to Bill Clinton and former Miami Mayor Xavier Suarez, was appointed by City of Miami Commissioners Alex Díaz de la Portilla, Ken Russell, Joe Carollo and Manolo Reyes to complete the last year of outgoing commissioner Keon Hardemon's term. Hardemon was elected to the Miami-Dade County Commission in November 2020. Commissioner Watson will represent District 5 which includes Overtown, Wynwood, Little Haiti, Liberty City and the Upper Eastside. |

The 21st Latin GRAMMY Awards returned home, broadcasting live from the American Airlines Arena in Downtown Miami to 80 countries worldwide, showcasing Greater Miami to 60 million people! This year the awards show was held virtually to ensure the safety of the artists and the global live audience. The reimagined show offered performances from multiple cities around the world and brought the best in Latin music to viewers around the globe. |

Miami International Airport Offers New Contactless Mobile Platform |
|
MIA2GO, is Miami International Airport's (MIA) new contactless mobile platform that allows customers to quickly browse food menus, order and pay before making their pick-up at restaurants throughout the airport. The new platform is available via MIA’s mobile-friendly website or mobile app, providing touch-free food pre-orders at participating restaurants. Eating options are searchable by food type and airport terminal, and orders are scheduled for pick-up at pre-set times, allowing customers to avoid waiting in line. Virginia Key Beach Park Trust presents Bright Lights Miami, an immersive lights and laser sensory experience that physically guides the audience along a fixed course of dynamically designed audiovisual installations. Enjoy over a mile of specially designed audiovisual installations via drive-thru or drive-in for a laser and light show, surrounded by spectacular sounds and live performances. Bright Lights Miami runs through January 10, Friday through Sunday every weekend in two unique episodes from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and 9:00-11:00 p.m. at the Historic Virginia Key Beach Park. The Miami Marlins Continue Home Plate Meals Thanksgiving Tradition |

The Miami Marlins and Miami Marlins Foundation, with the support of Feeding South Florida, are providing 1,000 Thanksgiving dinners to local families on November 23 at the 12th annual Home Plate Meals Thanksgiving Distribution. Miami Marlins Name New Female General Manager |
|
The Miami Marlins recently hired Kim Ng as the organization’s new General Manager. Ng is the first woman GM in the history of Major League Baseball and the second person of Asian descent to lead an MLB team. Ng brings extensive knowledge to the Marlins’ team with more than 30 years in Major League Baseball. She becomes the highest-ranking woman in baseball operations and the first woman hired to the position by any of the professional men’s sports teams in the North American Major Leagues. Masks Up, Miami PSA’s Hope to Help During Covid 19 |
|
Five local filmmakers offered their best ideas through a new competition by Oolite Arts. Their Miami ideas include using lovesick flamingoes, dogs, dancing skeletons, and even a true story about a family that will resonate with many. The winners received $2,500 to produce up to one-minute PSAs for the contests, Masks Up, Miami presented by Oolite Arts. FPL To Donate $15 Million In Bill Credits to Assist Low-Income Customers |
|
Florida Power & Light Company plans to donate $15 million in bill credits to benefit eligible low-income customers, as the company continues to support customers facing challenges amidst the global pandemic. Certain residential customers will automatically receive a $20 credit on their monthly bill starting in December that will extend through December 2021.
