The GMCVB Responds to COVID-19

The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) is proud to serve the travel and hospitability industry of Miami-Dade County, the top economic engine for the Greater Miami community. As we all navigate the global COVID-19 pandemic, your tourism bureau is implementing an action plan to support and stimulate the industry as much as possible while relaying best practices from official health sources aimed at the travel industry and visitors.  One of our first initiatives is the launch of the Miami Eats, Order Out, Help Out campaign, a program to stimulate business for the restaurant community by encouraging locals to “help out” and “order out”.  In addition, the GMCVB is proud to partner with the United Way Helping Hands to create a tourism component to the Miami Pandemic Fund. Working with the United Way, the GMCVB will ensure that the local tourism industry is on the receiving end of some aid during this challenging time.   The GMCVB continues to align with national partners such as The US Travel Association to call on Congress for swift and aggressive action on a stimulus package for the travel and hospitality community.  We invite Miami-Dade County hotels and tourism community to visit our website for access to a resource library of materials on COVID-19.  Our industry has weathered many challenges in the past and we trust our strong partnerships and close collaboration will be key in our recovery.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

The health and safety of Miami-Dade County residents and visitors is a priority and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) is working closely with health and government officials for access to the most accurate and timely information regarding COVID-19.
The World Health Organization has declared a global pandemic and Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez announced an emergency order declaring closures of public beaches, parks and non-essential retail and commercial establishments.  In addition, hotels and commercial lodging businesses have been ordered to close in the City of Miami Beach.

For the most up-to-date information on travel restrictions, please check with the US Department of State. Miami International Airport remains open and servicing flights. Many carriers have begun cancelling and/or reducing service therefore travelers into the Greater Miami area are advised to check with their carrier to check on status of flights.
Cruise Travel

Miami Beach Convention Center Partners with Food Rescue US on Food Donation Program

The Miami Beach Convention Center is donating excess, unopened food from cancelled meetings and galas to local charities via Food Rescue US, a platform that matches last-minute food donations with volunteers who can pick up and deliver it to a local charity or source in need.   Due to the public health threat of COVID-19, Zendesk's global user conference, Relate, which was set to take place March 3-5, was cancelled, and so was the Miami City Ballet (MCB) 2020 Gala on March 14. Though the decision to cancel was a painful one, the decision about what to do with more than 1,000 pounds of food already prepped and waiting for Relate's 2,300 attendees was not. Back in December, the Miami Beach Convention Center and Zendesk's Relate team had already begun working on a strategy to reduce food waste at the conference. For more information click here.

Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau Launches ‘Miami Eats, Order Out, Help Out’ Campaign to Support Restaurant Recovery

To support local restaurants amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) will announce a program that encourages Miamians to enjoy the Greater Miami and the Beaches’ vast dining options while at home. 'Miami Eats, Order Out, Help Out' campaign by the GMCVB was conceived to help restaurants inform patrons of their takeout and delivery offerings, and ultimately, stimulate business for locals’ beloved restaurants and most importantly – their owners, chefs and employees. With 270 restaurants listed and counting, 'Miami Eats, Order Out, Help Out' campaign by the GMCVB offers endless opportunities to enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even wine, beer and cocktails, from our city’s favorite restaurants. Some restaurants are new to dining out and some are offering affordable family meals, gourmet make-at-home meal kits, free desserts and special discounts, making this an opportunity for locals to satisfy palates while helping local businesses. 'Miami Eats, Order Out, Help Out' campaign by the GMCVB is open to all Miami-Dade restaurants regardless of location, cuisine or price point. All will be listed on the dedicated 'Miami Eats, Order Out, Help Out' website, offering consumers a single platform and one-stop-shop when considering dining options, with easy browse and search capabilities. Orders are encouraged directly through the restaurant, or if unavailable, there are great third-party carriers with free and no-contact delivery. For a complete list of participants, please click here and share your 'Miami Eats, Order Out, Help Out' experience with the GMCVB on social media by using the hashtag #MiamiEats and #OrderOutHelpOut. For restaurants who would like to join the program, please contact restaurantsupport@gmcvb.com.
