Record Number of Hotel Room Nights Sold in January 2020
 
During January 2020, the number of Miami-Dade County hotel room nights sold increased by +7.1% as compared to the same period a year ago.

Carnaval Miami Presents Calle Ocho
 
The GMCVB invites you to attend Carnaval Miami’s Calle Ocho Festival happening Sunday, March 15 on SW 8th Street between SW 12th and 27th Ave. A marquee event of Carnaval Miami, Calle Ocho is the largest Hispanic festival in the nation where you can stroll around 20 blocks of Little Havana filled with musical stages, international food, sampling sites, folkloric dances and entertainment for everyone. Carnaval Miami is powered by Kiwanis Club of Little Havana to benefit the Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation. GMCVB's Multicultural Tourism Team is a contributing sponsor for this event and will have a tent set up during the event. For more information, please click here.

Miami Dragon Boat Festival Comes to Miami Marine Stadium
 
Grab your officemates and get ready for the challenge of dragon boat racing! Join the GMCVB to form a team and participate at the inaugural Miami Dragon Boat Festival. Held at Miami Marine Stadium on Saturday, April 18, a portion of the event proceeds supports the work of Save our Sisters Miami; an organization that offers active, health-giving, life-affirming community programs for breast cancer survivors.

Miami DDA Downtown Community Grants - Spring Cycle 2020
 

The Miami Downtown Development Authority “Miami DDA” is focused on improving the quality of life for stakeholders, residents, and visitors in Downtown Miami. The Miami DDA provides the Downtown Community Grants program, designed to support special events and projects taking place in the area. To be eligible, the project/event should have a demonstrable economic impact on Downtown Miami and strengthen Downtown Miami’s appeal as a destination. Ideas submitted for funding are encouraged to activate the Baywalk/Riverwalk, and/or Flagler Street. These grants will cover events/projects through September 30. The 19th Annual Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival presented by Capital One (SOBEWFF®) returns to EAT. DRINK. EDUCATE.
 
America’s favorite gourmet gathering on the sand has once again added an all-star line-up of musical acts to join its fan-favorite roster of renowned chefs, culinary and lifestyle personalities, winemakers, and spirits producers. On Sunday, February 23, as attendees sip on wines and libations from more than 80 suppliers from the Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits portfolio and nosh on tastings from more than 55 restaurants, they will also enjoy the return of the featured David Grutman Experience at the fan favorite Goya Foods’ Grand Tasting Village featuring Grand Tasting Tents & Publix Culinary Demonstrations sponsored by Sub-Zero Group Southeast.  All proceeds from the Festival benefit the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Florida International University. To date, SOBEWFF® has raised more than $30 million to support the education of the future leaders of the hospitality industry.

GMCVB Leads Miami Delegation to ANATO, Colombia
 
GMCVB Travel Industry Sales Director Joe Docal will lead a delegation of GMCVB Partners to Bogota, Colombia for the 39th edition of the Vitrina Turística ANATO, the premier travel tradeshow for the Colombian market, which will take place February 26-28. GMCVB Communications Team will also be on hand to meet with trade and consumer media to educate them on what’s new in the destination. Vitrina Turística ANATO will be host to 3,500+ exhibitors, 28,700+ travel professionals, 450+ media outlets and will showcase 36 countries and 32 regions within Colombia. Participating GMCVB Partners will have the opportunity to engage in one-on-one meetings with top tour operators during scheduled sales calls prior to the start of the travel show as well during the three-day event.

GMCVB Communications and Sales Teams Promote Miami at the Travel & Adventure Show in Atlanta, Georgia
 
Launched in January 2020, the Found In Miami messaging has been expanded to include the GMCVB’s new “MIAMILAND” outdoor adventurers campaign. To promote the campaign, GMCVB Sr. Director of Communications Suzie Sponder and Travel Industry Sales Director Debra Lee will be attending the Travel & Adventure Show taking place in Atlanta, GA USA, February 28-March 1. The Travel & Adventure Show provides the opportunity for consumers to explore vacation options represented by top destinations, tour operators and travel suppliers from around the world. The show is covered by major media outlets from throughout the region as well as top travel influencers and bloggers and presents media opportunities for interviews throughout the show. Atlanta is one of the top feeder markets for tourism to Miami with more than 330,00 choosing to visit the destination.

GMCVB Communications Team Sells Miami in Colombia
 
GMCVB Communications Team will be promoting the destination during a media roadshow in Medellin, Colombia, February 24-25. During the roadshow, the Team will conduct media appointments with top travel publications, and major daily newspapers to promote Greater Miami. The Team will update the media about industry news, attractions, the "MIAMILAND" campaign, and many more topics. Medellin is the second- largest and most important city in Colombia, with many newspaper headquarters there. With a surrounding area that includes nine other cities, the metropolitan area of Medellín is the second-largest urban agglomeration in Colombia in terms of population and economy, with more than 3.7 million people.

GMCVB Communications Hosts ELLE Germany in Miami
 
GMCVB Communications Team is hosting Meike Mai, the travel editor of the German edition of ELLE magazine, February 26-29. She will be in Miami working on a four-page travel article about the destination which will be published in print and online, as well as shared via the magazine’s social media channels. The German edition of ELLE has a circulation of 250,000 and 6.5 million unique visitors per month.

GMCVB Convention Sales Sells Greater Miami and the Beaches to Finance and Insurance Markets at LIMRA Meeting
 
GMCVB Convention Sales will be attending the LIMRA (Life Insurance Marketing & Research Association) Distribution Conference for Financial Services, February 25-27, in Tampa, FL USA. Approximately 150 decision makers involved in the negotiation of meetings, including Liberty Mutual, Lincoln Financial Group & Principal Financial Group to name a few, will attend this year’s conference. In addition to networking opportunities, promoting Greater Miami and Beaches for meetings, the GMCVB Team will also be “talking up” next year's Conference being held in our own backyard at the InterContinental, February 22-25, 2021.

GMCVB Communications Hosts Major Global Gay Travel Blog, The Nomadic Boys
 
GMCVB Communications Team is hosting The Nomadic Boys, one of the world’s most popular gay travel blogs, in Miami February 26 - March 1. They are putting together a detailed 5,000-word LGBTQ guide to Miami, which will cover the best gay friendly hotels, bars, clubs, events, places to eat and things to do in Miami for their readers and is set to be published in April. The Nomadic Boys blog is one of the world’s biggest and most popular gay travel blogs, with 350,000 monthly page views and 3 million annual unique users. They also have over 250,000 engaged followers across their social media platforms, including 116k on Instagram, 84k on Twitter, 28k on Facebook and 24k on Pinterest.
