Record PortMiami Passengers For January-November 2019 |
|
During January-November 2019, cruise passengers through PortMiami increased by +14.6 percent compared to the previous year. Growth is due in part to the addition of new ships offering year-round service and the extensive cruise options offered by PortMiami. New ships sailing from PortMiami include Carnival Horizon, Carnival Magic, Norwegian Bliss, Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas and Symphony of the Seas. |

Super Bowl LIVE Presented by VERIZON |
|
Super Bowl LIVE will be running from January 25 to February 1, at Bayfront Park in Downtown Miami. The FREE fan festival will feature evening concerts at the Amphitheater, a Huddle Down Community Stage, Road to the 11th Super Bowl activation, Tailgate Town featuring a Culinary stage, an Environmental Village, live water shows, evening parades, fireworks and much more. Miami Rated Amongst Top-Ranking Best Convention Destinations |
|
MeetingSource.com announced the publication of its 4th annual best convention city survey which ranks the assets of 166 cities across the United States. Six factors go into each city’s report: walkability, affordable hotel rooms, distance of airports to the convention center and the number of direct flights, safety, tourism appeal and weather. Miami was one of the top-ranking cities for the fourth year in a row, with the publication citing more affordable room rates and the destination’s robust tourism offerings. |

The 27th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Breakfast to benefit the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project founded by Congresswoman Frederica Wilson will be hosted on January 20 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Miami Airport & Convention Center. The highly anticipated breakfast event, headlined by Larenz Tate and Korey Wise, honors the life and legacy of Dr. King and serves as the induction ceremony for the young Wilson scholars. GMCVB President & CEO William D. Talbert III, CDME will attend the Miami-Dade County State of the County Address by Mayor Carlos Gimenez on January 14 at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Downtown Miami. The meeting starts at 10 a.m. and is open to the public. The GMCVB provided the Mayor’s office with valuable information on tourism figures and the economic impact of tourism to Miami-Dade County for the address. |

GMCVB Travel Industry Sales Director Debra Lee will partner with American Airlines on a sales mission to the Dominican Republic, January 14-17. The delegation will promote Greater Miami and the Beaches and American Airlines’ service from Miami to four cities in the Dominican Republic to travel professionals. In 2018, the Dominican Republic ranked sixteenth for international visitors to Miami. |
