The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) is committed to the safety and well-being of all its visitors and will continue to closely monitor developing weather conditions in the coming days. The GMCVB remains in constant contact with government and emergency management officials to provide both current and potential visitors to the Greater Miami area with the most recent and accurate information regarding Hurricane Dorian.
According to the National Hurricane Center, while the path of Hurricane Dorian remains unclear, the Greater Miami area, along with the eastern coast for the State of Florida are within the storm’s cone of possible impact. Miami International Airport and PortMiami both remain open however current and potential visitors to the Greater Miami area are highly encouraged to check with their respective airline carriers and cruise lines to see how weather patterns may be affecting travel plans. It is advisable that visitors seek alternative plans if planning to travel to the Greater Miami area during the Labor Day weekend.
There are currently no evacuation orders in place in the Greater Miami area, however visitors should remain vigilant and in close contact with their hotel in order to understand the evacuation zone in which their place of accommodations resides. Should an evacuation order be enacted by Miami-Dade County officials, visitors will be encouraged to make arrangements to return home or find alternative accommodations in a non-evacuation zone.

If you are currently visiting Greater Miami, we encourage you to check with your hotel, individual airlines, and cruise lines for schedule or itinerary changes. In the event an evacuation is necessary, here are 10 steps to help you along your way:
1. Contact your airline to determine if you can leave prior to the storm's arrival.
2. Seek alternative options to depart the area by train, bus or automobile if air travel is not an option.
3. Evacuate/depart early as roads may become congested and driving conditions may deteriorate.
4. Check with your hotel for assistance with accommodations in non-evacuation zones if you cannot depart the area. The GMCVB has compiled a list of all major booking partners available in the Greater Miami area here.
5. Advise family and friends you are moving to a new location.
6. Monitor local media as storm conditions can change rapidly.
7. Make sure you have enough cash on hand for immediate needs.
8. Keep cell phone charged since phone systems may not be operational after the storm.
